Thinking about giving up smoking?

    Friday, January 29, 2021

It’s not a secret that smoking is bad for anyone’s health but if you add the need for home oxygen to the equation, then you’re making your own life more difficult than it needs to be, so it’s great that you’re thinking about giving up.

It doesn’t take long before you feel the benefits. Giving up smoking tops the health-charts as something you can control to make yourself feel better. Over a few days, you will find that your sense of smell and taste improves and your energy will increase. Over time, your circulation will improve and if you’ve got wheeze or cough then this should also start to pass. After one year of not smoking, you will have reduced the risk of having a heart attack by half, compared to a smoker.

Specifically from an oxygen-user perspective, the risk of an accelerated fire in your home will be substantially decreased and your lung function should increase.

    What’s standing in your way?

Smoking is addictive and can become habitual so getting over these two hurdles will take will power. You may have smoked for years, even before it was identified how detrimental it is to your health, so consider this a lifestyle change.

Outside of your general health and wellbeing, you will also be financially better off. It’s a win-win.
